It's been a great season to be Cubs fan.

I've seen more home wins this year that any I can remember. My current personal record: 11 - 4. As we head into late August, we're maintaining a 5 game lead over those pesky Brewers, and the Cards have nearly fallen out of the picture. The post season is in sight!
We've had some great surprises this year in pick ups with Reed Johnson and Jim Edwards (my head still reels when I think about that one). Some serious acquisitions in Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin, and some great call ups with Mike Fontenot and Geovany Soto. It's all gelled together so well, so magically, that even a slumping Kosuke Fukodome can't seem to diminish the good times.
With a 76-48 record and 38 games to go, I think I've said enough. A lot can happen in these final six weeks, but damn if the Cubs Nation isn't feeling pretty good right now. For the Cubs, and for my Cubs heavy fantasy team alike, I'm starting to get very excited for those playoffs. I better stop writing now...

"Fu-ku-do-me!" Chant along to the previous refrain of "Let's-Go-Cub-bies!"
Written By Kevin Krayer
April 1, 2008
The great new hope from Japan made his Wrigley Field debut to the enthusiastic applause of 41,000 excited fans yesterday. Despite a miserable and dreary day that included a late start, followed by a 49 minute rain delay, one player stood clearly above the rest of his teammates. You could make an argument that it was Carlos Zambrano, who threw an impressive 6.2 innings of scoreless ball before being pulled for arm cramps. But no, it was Kosuke Fukudome, going 3 for 3 with a walk, and a game tying three run homer in the ninth. To say the right field bleacher fans love this man is a massive understatement.
Sori-who? Derrek what? That Aramis guy still plays here? If Fukudome continues to perform even close to his debut, there's no doubt that he'll be the Cubs new shining star.
As for the rest of the team? The greatly improved bullpen didn't seem all that great. Closer Kerry Wood (complete with new intro music - AC/DC's “TNT” - of all things) gave up three runs after plunking his first batter. Bob Howry served up the game losing pitch minutes later in the tenth, as the Brewers won 4-3. Only Carlos Marmol ( my pick for closer) was unhittable, picking up three k's over 1.1 innings. Offensively, the Cubs were quiet - with only Lee and Pie (in addition to Fukudome) picking up hits.
A lot of media outlets have the Cubs at the top the NL Central, and a few have them going all the way. I think they have a solid shot - but the Brewers are going to continue to be a problem. The Cubs certainly have the strongest team I've seen in years, and a newly anointed star from Japan could be the spark needed to push them over the top. But looking back at their opening day performance, there's a lot of work still to be done.

It's Time To Take That Mulligan
Written By Kevin Krayer
February 17, 2008 The last time any of us saw the Cubs, the scene began poorly. I was seated in Section 518 - Row 6, with high expectations. Every fan present was hoping, praying... that maybe, on this first home post-season game of 2007, that the Cubs would salvage our hopes.
Begin anew at 1-2.
Avoid the sweep.
Force game 4. And then, dare we hoped - game 5.
It had just been done by the Red Sox a few years prior, so why not us?
Then, on Rich Hill's first pitch of the game, the D-Backs Chris Young cracked a solid shot over the left-field bleachers. The first. freakin. pitch. Most of us hadn't even settled in yet. For those that noticed: weak groans.
In the stunned silence that followed, someone far to our left yelled "Mulligan!!"
The Cubs went on to lose 1-5, completing the sweep.
And that's where we begin today. Another do-over. Another Mulligan.
Another fresh start.
This year our World Series drought hits triple-digits, and hopes are high again. I just saw a headline that newly-anointed starter Ryan Dempster has predicted nothing less than a World Series Championship for the '08 team.
As far as I'm concerned, he just jinxed the entire season.
Regardless of Dempster’s disaster-baiting comment, we'll be there. At Wrigley, or in front of a TV, or listening to AM radio. For the next 8 months or so, it will be our lives.
Hope always springs eternal at the start of spring training.
It's time to take that Mulligan.

This is painful. It competes with loosing in the playoffs after Seattle won 116 games in the regular season...
WE ARE LOOKING for a few fan correspondents for each team. If your interested send us an email.
